How Do You Keep Kids From Ruining Their Clothes?

Kids are amazing. They can be funnier, more creative and more entertaining that just about anyone else in the world. However, they can also make a serious mess of themselves. That’s not inherently a bad thing of course! After all, what would a kid be without getting the chance to run around and get dirty from time to time? That being said, your kids might love a bit of rough and tumble, but their clothes certainly won’t! Every parent can relate to the frustration of having to replace their kid’s clothes over and over again. It’s bad enough that they grow out of their clothes incredibly quickly, but when they’re putting holes in them before they even have the chance, it can be a serious, not to mention expensive, inconvenience. Fortunately, there are things that you can do to help your children’s clothes last a little bit longer.

Buy them clothes that they’ll want to keep

One of the best things that you can do to help your child learn to take better care of their clothes is to give them clothes that they are actually going to want to take care of. Boys can be particularly bad when it comes to caring about the quality of their clothes, but by finding brands that they really like, such as Kenzo boys or Indikidual, they’re much more likely to look after them. Of course, kids are always going to get distracted, but they are much less likely to make a serious mess of themselves if they’re wearing clothes that they really love.

Buy sturdy clothes

Of course, even the nicest clothes can only stand up to so much punishment from your little ones. If you really want to avoid having to buy new clothes every couple of weeks, then the best thing to do is to find the sturdiest, most hard-wearing clothes that you can. Tougher clothes are often on the slightly more expensive side, but it’s definitely cheaper than having to buy new clothes over and over again every month.

Give them specific clothes for playing in

In the exact same way that you wouldn’t wear your best clothes to paint the house in, you shouldn’t send your little ones out to play in clothes that you’re not willing to get a little bit damaged. Find some specific, tough clothes that they can go out and get muddy and roughed up in. You’re never going to be able to stop your kids from getting messy but this way you won’t have to worry about them coming home with giant holes in their nicest clothes.

Of course, buying new clothes more often than you feel like you should is a real pain but, sadly, it’s something that you’re going to have to come to terms with. Having kids is a pretty expensive endeavor no matter what you do, but by being careful and teaching your kids to respect their belongings, you’ll find yourself not only saving money, but you’ll also set your little ones up to be much more sensible with both their money and their possessions.
