Here’s How You Can Sleep Better With A Newborn
There is no denying that having a newborn in the home can be extremely tiring. It will wake up throughout the night needing to be fed and soothed. Even if you do take turns with your partner, you will find that the baby still manages to greatly reduce the number of hours of sleep you get each night.
Even though your baby might not want to sleep much, that’s no reason you should suffer from poor sleep yourself. There are in fact a few tips and tricks that all new moms can use to ensure that they get as much sleep as possible once their new baby arrives. Here are some of the tips that can help you do just that.
Express Your Milk
Are you starting to get jealous of all the sleep your partner is getting? It’s often a lot easier on men as they don’t have to wake up through the night to feed the little baby. Thankfully, though, there is something you can do that makes it easier to share feeding times – you just need to express your milk. If you can fill up a couple of bottle with your milk then these can be stored in the fridge. That way, your partner can get up, grab a bottle, and feed your baby during the night. This gives you the chance to get plenty of shut-eye!
Get A Better Mattress
Do you find that when you do eventually get into bed, you spend too much time tossing and turning to try and get comfy? The problem could be with your mattress. After a few years, mattress can develop lumps and bumps which makes them far from comfy. When you are ready for a new one, you should find a quality mattress supplier and then feel free to drop them a line. They’ll be able to advise you on the best one for you that will help you drop off as quickly as possible so that you can get as many Zzzs as possible!
Keep Your Baby’s Naps Short
The more a baby naps during the day, the less they will need to sleep during the night. You shouldn’t reduce the number of naps your baby takes during the day, though, but you can try to reduce their length. We all know that people say you should never wake a sleeping baby, but that isn’t always the case. After all, if you know that making their naps shorter will help them sleep for longer at night, you and your partner will benefit as well!
Use White Noise
Do you think your baby is waking more than it should be during the night? It could be hearing some distractions from outside its nursery. To prevent too many noisy distractions waking them, you should play white noise in their room. This helps soothe the mind, promotes sleep, and also drowns out any external noise.
Once you start to follow all the tips above, you will find that you and your baby can both enjoy more sleep!
