Fun Gifts for the Holidays with GIANTmicrobes
As the holidays approach I like to find fun and inventive gifts for everyone on my list. I found myself at GIANTmicrobes and found myself in love with everything I came across. Who does not love adorable plushies? These also serve an educational purpose as well. Kids and adults get an all around experience with GIANTmicrobes and they have more than educational plushies available as well, should check out their website and see for yourself.
There are a few plushies I absolutely adore and some that make me laugh. The educational purposes of these is a big deal to me as well, especially with my children that are homeschooled. They get the chance to check them out and learn about them. Seeing them one million times their actual size helps as well. We know how small these can be and seeing them in a real sense is helpful and fun for all ages.
The Brain Cell (Neuron) has a lot of information about how the brain cells work together. Did you know that there is enough electrical power flickering through your Neurons that it could power a flashlight bulb? I thought that was really neat. You have over a billion of these in your brain. You also learn that neurons can not regrow after they have been damaged, but that new connections between them can form. I think it is neat and was fun to be able to show them a Brain Cell that they could touch and then learn all about it. There is a lot more you can learn!
What is neat is we talked about the brain cells now we are moving on to the Heart (Heart Organ) and that is one of the most adorable plushies I have seen from GIANTmicrobes. I think this makes a great gift for kids or even someone you love. It is like gifting your heart to them and it is sweet. Though if they have no personality they may not get the humor, but I cannot see how they wouldn’t! It also comes with a bunch of facts about the heart as well. Can be used educationally and for funsies! One fascinating fact you can learn about the heart is that in an average lifespan it will pump 1.5 million barrels of blood. How fascinating is that?
Now one of the cutest little organisms I have come across is the Waterbear (Hypsibius Dujardini)! Manly because it looks like an adorable little bear. I found myself snuggling with this plushie and the kids wanted to have it. They are very hardy little organism that can withstand boiling temperatures and even near freezing. They move slow and as they move around they look like a bear, which is really kind of cute. The kids loved learning about the fact that scientists have even put some Waterbears in space and a lot of them survived even radiation! This is a very hardy organism.
This last one we are going to talk about is a gift set called Tainted Love. This can serve a few purposes including education for teaching your kids about sex and some of the consequences, as an educator, or as a fun gift to give a friend. Included in the gift set is Herpes (Herpes Simplex Virus 2), Chlamydia (Chlamydia Trachomatis), Clap – Gonorrhea (Neisseria Gonorrhoeae), HPV (Human Papillomavirus), and Pox – Syphilis (Treponema Pallidum). So much education in one place and fun with friends. This gift set had me laughing, but I know it serves a great purpose for education as well. It is up to you what you do with this amazing gift set.
There is so much fun and education with GIANTmicrobes and so much fun to stuff into stockings and give as gifts this holiday season. Take your time and browse around, you might find yourself surprised at what you come across!
